Panel discussion and poster competition hosted by the LSE Global Health Initiative on Conflict and Mental Health

About this Event

Panel discussion and poster competition hosted by the LSE Global Health Initiative, in partnership with the Department of Health Policy and the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre (CPEC), on Conflict and Mental Health. This event will bring together experts from academia, front-line health practitioners and NGOs to showcase research related to mental health in conflict or post-conflict settings. This event will sit at the interface of academia and practice to address theoretical and practical issues related to the challenges and opportunities related to health research in such settings. Discussions will explore topics related to sexual exploitation, Gulf War Syndrome, unrest in Hong Kong and youth mental health, and the mental health needs of Syrian refugees.

The panel event will be followed by drinks and a poster display, showcasing current research on mental health and conflict from across the School.

Poster Submission

If you are interested in submitting a poster to be included in the poster display held during the post-seminar drinks then please find further details below. The display will provide the opportunity to highlight, share and discuss existing Global Health work across the school and both staff and students are encouraged to participate. Work showcased can be planned, underway or completed. However, it should be noted this is a public event.

Applicants are welcome to submit more than one poster and/or abstract. The deadline for submissions is the 31 January 2020. The submission requirements, judging criteria and guidelines closely follow those used by the LSE Research Festival. Accepted posters will be printed free of charge by the organisers of the event.

Find out more and submit your poster here.

If you are interested in displaying a poster, or would like to find out more about the initiative, please contact Charnele Nunes at the Global Health Initiative on globalhealth@lse.ac.uk
