Mental Wealth Festival
The 2019 Mental Wealth Festival
The fifth edition of the Mental Wealth Festival returns this October 2019 to coincide with World Mental Health Day (Thursday 10th October 2019). This year we focus on relationships, family, friendship and the importance of community and support networks.
The Festival provides a forum for informative, challenging and inspiring discussions and workshops exploring mental health issues and takes places across different venues in London. The Mental Wealth Festival is produced by City Lit in partnership with our friends at Beyond Words, The National Gallery, The British Museum and Mad World.
When booking, please let us know on the below email if you have any specific support needs at least two weeks in advance of the event, we appreciate your help in planning. For any enquiries please email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tuesday 8 October
Deaf people are twice as likely to experience mental health issues such as depression and anxiety compared to hearing people. Exacerbating this situation is the fact that deaf people find it much harder to access support on the NHS.
This panel will discuss the barriers to access, the consequences of these barriers and what change we need to see to make mental health services for deaf people more accessible and relevant.
This event will be BSL-led with interpreting into English and Speech to Text.
18:00-19:30 Mental Health in the Deaf Community
